Lifeline App is a prototype app created to help medical students deal with the immense pressure and stress that comes with the profession. The app features a daily mood tracker, a scheduling feature, a student's forum to discuss relevant topics and issues with other students and professionals, and a direct line to certified therapists within the area.
After doing careful research I learned about the common phenomenon amongst medical students known as "Physicians Burnout". Physician burnout is “a combination of physical and emotional exhaustion that can lead to reduced effectiveness—either real or perceived,” as explained by Dr. Hopkins. “Anybody can relate to that feeling of being physically and emotionally exhausted."
Due to how common and serious of an issue Physician's Burnout is, especially with emerging diseases such as COVID which has further stressed the American medical system, I believed there was a huge potential market for an app that can help medical students and professionals overcome this serious obstacle and continue to be a blessing to their patients.
The Storyboard below pictures the entire process of the Lifeline app, from Problem to Prototype, including the interviews conducted with medical students, the feedback and Design System for the app.
